Bhavani Island in the midst of Krishna River is one of the best tourist places in Vijayawada. A boat-ride to the island takes one to the Kanaka Devi temple, visited by devotees and tourists from around the world, especially during the festivals of Dussehra and Navratri. Located about 5km from the main city in the Guntur district are the rock caves of Undavalli. Built around 4th or 5th century, the Undavalli caves make a perfect getaway for art and history enthusiasts. Mangalagiri, Prakasam Barrage, ISKCON Temple, Hinkar Thirtha, Mogalarajapuram Caves and Papi Hills are some other places to visit in Vijayawada.
