It was built in 1890 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III with the royal Gaekwad family of Vadodara still residing here. The majestic palace also has the Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum in its compound. The museum features a splendid collection of paintings by Raja Ravi Verma and other artefacts from around the world. Surya Mandir

Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park

Featured in the World Heritage Sites list, this archaeological park is situated in the city of Champaner and is surrounded by the Pavagadh hills. It is home to many Hindu and Mughal architectural wonders, holding immense historical significance. It is also believed that the hill of Pavagadh is a chunk of the Himalayas originally carried by Hanuman to Lanka in the Ramayana, which is one of the Hindu epics.
