Lying on the west bank of the Sabarmati River, Gandhinagar was designed with great detail and care. The city is popular for its many educational institutions, recreational activities and infrastructure. However, there are several tourist places in Gandhinagar that have lured in people from all over the world. The Akshardham Temple with more than 100 pillars, balconies and around 17 domes makes for visual delight. There is also a Hanumanji Temple that is frequented by devotees on a daily basis. The Adalaj ni Vav or the Step Well is a four-levelled well that has carvings of animals, Hindu Gods and Goddesses and floral impressions. The Timandhar-Simandhar city, the Gujarat Science City and the Craftsmen’s village are other places to visit in Gandhinagar.
