Ganga Jatra, Tirupati’s annual folk festival, brings people from near and far off places to the city. It is dedicated to goddess Gangamma and lasts for an entire week. Devotees and tourists visit Tirupati during May to partake in its festivities. The offerings made to the deity include a wide range of articles like pongal, sarees, kukuma, goats and hens. The most visited temple in the world, Tirumala Lord Venkateswara Temple, hosts a nine day festival every year. This event in Tirupati is held in the months of September and October, and is celebrated with much grandeur. It also attracts devotees and tourists from around the globe to Tirupati.
