With its roots in history, Indore has done much to preserve and promote arts in various forms. Lavani Folk Music, although Maharashtrian, has developed significantly in Indore and southern regions of Madhya Pradesh. Indore is a hub for classical music, dance and also theatre. Ustaad Amir Khan founded the Indore Gharana – a sect of the Hindustani Classical Music that is widely appreciated and adopted. The Ravindra Natya Grah, Mai Mangeshkar Sabha Grah and DAVV Auditorium are some of the entertainment places in Indore that offer a great platform for upcoming and accomplished artists. The city is the holder of a Guinness World Record for the Longest Cultural Show in the World that lasted 12 hours and 8 minutes. Indore has now grown to be an important hub for Rock and Metal Music. Aside from cultural events, there are also amusement parks like the Mayank Blue Water Park and Appu Ghar – favourites among children and adventure lovers.
