Chennai is often believed to be a city of temples. While this may be true, it certainly is not all. There are several places to visit in Chennai, each of which offers a magnificent insight into the history and culture of the region. The Kapaleeshwar Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Sri Parthasarthy Temple, the San Thome Basilica and the Thousand Lights Mosque are unusual places of worship that must be visited. The city also boasts of beaches that are beautiful and relaxing. The Marina Beach that offers stunning views and the Covelong Beach offering water sports like surfing and swimming are significant tourist places in Chennai. Elliot’s Beach is on the quieter side and is preferred for a peaceful, evening walk. Nature lovers will not be disappointed while in the city. The Arignar Anna Zoological Park, Semmozhi Poonga – a botanical garden and the Crocodile Bank set in the lap of nature are a pleasure to visit. It is no wonder then, that Chennai is a complete world in itself.
